Do you want to pick a random state in the United States? This random U.S. state generator gives you one random destination in the USA.

The United States of America (USA) is composed of 50 states and a bunch of other territories. This random U.S. state generator will pick you one the US states as your random travel destination. You can use the generator for any reason you like, such as planning a trip or picking a random vacation.

UPDATE 2023:  This is not my only random vacation generator for the USA. If you want to pick a random US city, use the Random US City Generator. I have also created a Random US County Generator and a Random Road Trip Generator for random trips in the United States.

Other Random Vacation Generators

If you want to play destination roulette somewhere else, you can try the other random destination generators that I’ve made on the page Random Generators. Here are some examples:

Besides creating these random destination generators, I’ve also written about other ways of choosing a random travel destination. You can also read my blog post “How Drawing a Random Circle on a Beach Ball Sent Me to Kenya” to learn about my own random travel experience.

If you use this random state generator for real to pick a random vacation destination (or a place to live or anything else), I’d love to hear about it! 🙂 Feel free to share your results and plans in the comment section below. You can also contact me on Facebook or Instagram.

I created this generator near the end of my 2-year trip around the world. I had broken my laptop in Brazil. For the rest of the journey, I replaced it with the cheapest possible tablet and a Bluetooth keyboard.

The tablet was alright for writing, but I couldn’t create proper illustrations with it. I asked my graphic designer friend Markku for help and he made the header image for me. He even added the tiny stars as an extra detail!
