North Dakota has a population of about 780,000, making it one of the least populated states. This random generator picks a city or town in North Dakota.

Random City in North Dakota

I’ve based this random generator on Wikipedia’s list of cities in North Dakota. The populations in the results come from the 2023 estimate.

All incorporated communities in North Dakota are considered cities, regardless of population. Because of this, I have included all 355 communities of North Dakota in the results. The smallest of these—Caio, Perth, and Ruso— all have mere 5 residents!

This generator is one of many on Arimo Travels. I’ve built similar tools for all US states—including the nearby states of Minnesota, Montana, and, of course, South Dakota. You’ll find them all on the Random Generators page.

I started Arimo Travels as a personal travel blog while exploring the world for two years. Over time, the site has expanded to cover topics like flightless travel and random generators. Read more about it here.

Many of my generators are designed for travel-related purposes, but I have also made some for entertainment, like picking a random writing prompt or activity to do when bored.

about this random generator, random destination, random city

Creating 50 different random generators for all the U.S. states is no small task. At the same time, I’ve made it even more challenging for myself by trying to write something unique about each state.

Sorry, North Dakota, but my mind is blank. I’ve never been to North Dakota, and I can’t recall anything in particular about the state right now. The first thing that came to mind was the “Dakota River.” I searched it on Google, only to find out it’s a fictional river from the video game Red Dead Redemption 2 — a game I haven’t even played.
