I’ve built this random generator based on Wikipedia’s list of municipalities in Illinois. Municipalities in Illinois are categorized as cities, towns, and villages. This randomizer includes all 300 cities in the state, no matter the population.

The image at the top of this page is from Galesburg, Illinois. I have not stayed in the town, but I passed through it on the Amtrak Southwest Chief train in 2025 as I was traveling from coast to coast by train. As the train passed through Illinois during daytime, I was able to see many parts of the state that day.
I also spent a day in Chicago, but highlighting the state’s largest city in the header image would have been a very uninspired choice. However, I must add that I really enjoyed Chicago even though I’m not usually a fan of big cities!
