From Albania to Wales, this random European city generator picks you a random city anywhere in Europe.
With great connections and short distances, exploring Europe is very easy. You don’t even need to fly as trains and buses take you practically anywhere.
This random generator gives you a random city in Europe from hundreds of options. The generator uses cities that are located in geographical Europe: While Russia and Turkey are on the list, I’ve only included cities that are located in their European parts.
You can use the generator to pick a random vacation destination or for any other reason. And if you want to pick a random country instead of a city, you can use my Random European Country Generator.

Selecting Random Cities
This random European city generator is based on Wikipedia’s list of cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. I’ve also added smaller capitals that are not included in the list. I used other sources whenever information was missing from the list.
I felt that using the list as it is would focus too much on bigger countries. For example, Germany has 79 cities this big. To balance the randomizer, I only included 10 largest cities if more were available.
I have a history with random travel destinations in Europe. During my first Interrail (EURail) trip, I chose my destinations by throwing darts on the map of Europe. I’ve also traveled to a completely random location anywhere in the world.
Arimo Travels is a sustainable travel blog, but I’ve also created several random generators. You can find them all on the page Random Generators. For example, I have other random city generators for places like the United States and the whole world.
If you use this random European city generator to pick a random destination or something else, I’d love to hear about it! You can share your results in the comment section below.

Many entries in this generator include links to blog post with the label “Travel Memory”. These are a series of 30 travel stories that I wrote in 2022. You can find them all on the page Travel Stories.
