This random Finnish city generator includes all the cities of Finland, plus local anecdotes about each of them.
In the past, I have created dozens of random destination generators for places all over the world. However, I had never made one about my home country, Finland.
I wanted to make this randomizer special, so I decided to put in the extra effort to personalize its results. Because of this, all cities come with a snippet of my own thoughts about the city in question.
If you wish, you could call this the opinionated random Finnish city generator.
Random City in Finland
This randomizer includes all Finnish cities (kaupunki) listed on Wikipedia’s list of cities and towns in Finland. As I’ve lived in Finland all my life and have visited most of our cities by now, each result also comes with my personal opinion or another random thought about the place.
The results also include each city’s estimated 2025 population and a link to Google Maps.

Traveling in Finland
I have traveled all over the world, but I’ve also seen a fair share of Finland. I’ve lived in six different regions of the country and spent a lot of time in the others as well. Some of my ancestors come from the north of Finland, while others lived in parts of Karelia in the southeast that are now part of Russia.

I believe Finland is a great place for random exploring all over the country. While many cities may lack historical monuments or impressive architecture, they make up for it with the abundance of nature found throughout the country.
I have a long history with both travel and randomness. I’ve visited over 50 countries without flying, and I’ve ended up in some of those places by picking random destinations.
