Szentendre — My Most Random Hungarian Destination

While traveling, I often stay with local Couchsurfing hosts. Near the end of my 2-year trip around the world, I decided to try another approach and use an old travel network from the European federation for psychology students (EFPSA). The network was mostly forgotten, but I reached out to one person listed as living in Budapest.

It turned out she had finished her studies and moved away years ago—but she still offered to host me in her new home: Szentendre, a small town just north of Budapest.

She showed me many of the region’s sights, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Hungary. As Finnish and Hungarian are distant linguistic relatives, we even had fun comparing some of the root words our languages still share.

About a Sustainable Travel Blog Page

Travel and randomness have always gone hand in hand for me. This Hungarian city generator is one of many randomizers I started making after visiting my own surprise destination during a 2-year global journey. I’ve now created city randomizers for nearly all of Hungary’s neighbors: Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. (Sorry Slovenia!)
