Need a random city in Belgium? From Brussels to Bruges, this generator includes cities and towns from all three regions of the country.

Belgium is a country where medieval charm meets modern European culture. This randomizer includes all major Belgian municipalities—whether they’re located in Dutch-speaking Flanders, French-speaking Wallonia, or the Brussels Capital Region.

Random Belgian City Generator

In Belgium, city status is granted to municipalities by royal decree or by an act of law. As a result, the number of cities in Belgium is clearly defined. This randomizer includes all 139 officially recognized Belgian cities. You can learn more about this system on the City Status in Belgium Wikipedia page.

My Visits to Belgium

I’ve stopped in Belgium once and passed through the country several times.

In 2018, I spent time in Brussels near the end of my two-year trip around the world. I initially stayed with an old Finnish friend, but he could only host me for part of the stay. After that, I stayed with Couchsurfing hosts from Romania. The photo at the top is from my time in Brussels.

Later, I traveled through Belgium by train on two occasions, seeing many parts of the country from the window. I’ve always liked Belgian architecture, especially the rustic buildings on the outskirts of towns.

About a Sustainable Travel Page

After spending two years reaching a random travel destination I picked blindly, I started making similar generators for others. What began with countries and regions has expanded into all sorts of random tools—including this one for Belgian cities. I’ve also created randomizers for most European countries, including Belgium’s larger neighbors: France, Germany, and the Netherlands (sorry Luxembourg, I still love you though!).
