Looking for a random city in the USA? This random US city generator picks cities from all the states and territories of the United States.
According to Wikipedia, the 50 states of the US have a total of 331 places with a population of at least 100,000. Some states have no such cities at all, while 76 of the cities are located in California.
A random US city generator that’s based on the biggest cities of the United States would heavile emphasize a few bigger states. Because of this, I’ve created a random US city generator that yields more diverse results. This randomizer includes five biggest cities from all the cities and territories of the United States.
You can use this random destination picker for any reason you like. For example, you can use it as a random vacation planner or a destination generator.

About the Generator
This is not the only random destination generator that I’ve created. I also have a Random US State Generator, a Random US Road Trip Generator and several other randomizers on the page Random Generators.
I have created several random city and state generetors for the United States. I have also created state-specific random American city generators for California, Florida, and Texas.
This site, Arimo Travels, is a sustainable travel blog that I started during my 777-day trip around the world. However, randomness is also a big part of the site – and my travels. I chose the destinations of my first train trip in Europe by throwing darts on the map of Europe. I’ve also traveled to a completely random place anywhere in the world.
As I focus on sustainable travel, I recommend that you travel in an environmental way. Train connections in the United States are sparce, but Greyhound buses travel long distances. If you wish to fly, I suggest donating 10% of your ticket cost to a high-impact climate charity. Carbon offsetting isn’t very effective, so it’s better to support organisations suggested by Giving Green instead.
If you use this generator to pick a random city to visit in America, I’d love to hear about it! You can share your plans and results in the comments below.
This has become the most popular random generator on Arimo Travels. It is viewed over 3,000 times per month, which is a lot for me. My other random city generators aren’t nearly as popular. The second place is held by my Random European City Generator and its 600 monthly users.
