Random City in Romania
This randomizer includes all Romanian towns with populations of 10,000 or more for a total of 219 places. The data is sourced from World Population Review’s 2025 list of cities in Romania.
If you play with the randomizer for a while, you will notice that different sectors of Bucharest may show up as separate entries. The reason for this is that Bucharest is divided into six different sectors, each with their own administration. Bucharest also appears as a single entry that covers the whole municipality.

How I Accidentally Ended Up in Romania
Way back in 2013, my friend and I traveled through Europe with a project called On the Road of Dreams. Our goal was to travel around Europe for 20 days and ask 1,000 passersby to write their dreams for the future on postcards.
During that trip, we let our social media followers vote for our destinations. Near the end of the trip, we were staying in Vienna, Austria, and our followers picked Croatia as our next destination.
We checked the train schedules online, hopped on the only train that departed at the right time… and soon learnt that we were on our way to Bucharest, Romania.
That was an interesting 17-hour journey to say the least. At least we had bought plenty of snacks at the train platform.
The photo at the top is from that stay in Bucharest.

Arimo Travels began as a blog about long, mostly flightless journeys—but randomness soon became part of its identity. This Romanian city picker is one of many generators I’ve made since reaching a randomly selected place anywhere in the world. You’ll also find similar city generators for Romania’s largest neighbors: Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, and Ukraine.
