Get a random city or town from Czechia, also known as the Czech Republic. This Central European country of nearly 11 million people is known for its castles, beer culture, and historic towns. The generator includes all Czech municipalities with a minimum of 10,000 residents.
While I haven’t visited a random town in Czechia myself, a very random chain of events—that took more than 30 years—did once send me to Kutná Hora.
Random City in the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic has 27 officially designated cities. As that would make quite a small list for a randomizer, I’ve also included all towns with 20,000 or more people to broaden the selection.

How I Ended Up in Kutná Hora
In Finland, all major subjects in universities have their own local student organizations. At my alma mater, psychology students—including myself—belonged to an organization called Stimulus. Stimulus was founded in the early 1960s, but its current logo—a strange creature with one of its feet growing from its nose—was adopted in the early 1990s.
At that time, psychology students from Jyväskylä were on an excursion to Prague, Czechoslovakia. One morning, the organization’s leaders spotted an ad on a telephone pole featuring the bizarre creature. Amused, they tore it off and later adopted it as the new logo of Stimulus.
Over 20 years later, my friends and I became curious about the origin of the logo. With help from Reddit and a few Czech artists, we discovered it was the work of Pavel Brázda, a well-known Czech painter. He was still alive then—he passed away two years later at the age of 91—and one of my friends even had the chance to meet him that same year.

Though I didn’t get to meet Brázda myself, I did want to see his artwork while I was in the Czech Republic during my 2-year round-the-world trip. As luck would have it, there was a rare exhibition of his art in Kutná Hora while I was visiting the country.
I traveled to Kutná Hora to see Brázda’s art—and was pleasantly surprised by how much else the town had to offer. The photo at the top is from that memorable visit.

After traveling to a random place in Africa during my journey around the world, I started creating random destination generators for others to try. This tool for Czech cities is one of over 100 randomizers now featured on the site. You’ll also find similar city generators for most European countries, including Czechia’s neighbors Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia.
