This generator includes the 34 cities in Malaysia with populations of 250,000 or more residents, according to data from Wikipedia’s list of Malaysian cities by population. Unfortunately, I would have liked to include smaller towns as well, but reliable population data for those was not available.

My Stays in Malaysia
I have been to Malaysia twice. First, I made a quick stop in the country after taking a train from Finland to North Korea. The photo at the top is from that stay, and it features a view of Kuala Lumpur from the Petronas Twin Towers.
The second visit happened in the first year of my 777-day trip around the world. Back then, I spent a lot of time exploring Borneo, and I both arrived and left Malaysia by boat: I arrived from Brunei Darussalam, and left the country on a boat to Nunukan, Indonesia.
Borneo made an everlasting impression on me. I was saddened by the state of the tropical rainforests, and I was deeply moved by the intelligent orangutans. Since then, I have quit travel almost completely and switched my focus to tackling climate change within the Effective Altruism movement.
This Malaysia city randomizer is part of my growing collection of random generators. The idea of creating these started after I visited a surprise destination I picked at random years ago.
