If you’re looking for a random city in Canada, you’ve come to the right place. This random Canadian city generator picks a random population center anywhere in Canada.

This random generator is not all about large cities. Instead, it includes all Canadian population centers with more than 10,000 people. 219 places in Canada fit the criteria.

In the past, Statistics Canada used the term urban area for such locations. In 2011, they switched the term to population centers. That includes all towns and cities with at least a thousand people and population density large enough.

You can use this generator for whatever you like. For example, you can use it to pick a random destination somewhere in Canada.

Random Canadian City Generator

To create this random Canadian city generator, I used Wikipedia’s list of the largest population centers in Canada as my main source.

As that list only includes 100 places, I gathered the rest of the places from lists by state or territory. The populations are from 2021.

More Random Generators

This is not the only random destination generator on this website. In total, I have created over 30 random generators (and counting). You can find them all on the Random Generators page.

I have created similar random city generators for different countries such as the United States and different continents such as Europe and Asia. There’s one for the whole world, too.

This site, Arimo Travels, is a sustainable travel blog. I started writing the blog during my 777-day trip around the world. After finishing my trip, I have switched my focus to sustainable and flightless travel tips.

I have been to 67 countries (see Travel Destinations), but Canada is not one of them. In fact, Canada is one of the very few countries on this site that I haven’t visited. However, Canada’s massive uncolored area in my destination map gave me the urge for this generator.
